In the Spring/Summer of 2023, SaludArte (a collaborative project between the Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona and the Pima County Health Department) brought together a group of 15 Green Valley residents to participate in crafting a narrative that would help inform this temporary art installation. Rooted in their collective and individual experiences, this project dove deeply into how they felt, adjusted to, and have worked/are working on overcoming the effects of life post-2020. Through a number of guided exercises, said participants contributed each of the elements present in this work of art, which was later painted by the Green Valley community during a special two-day public event. This project is a true community piece in which we, as artists, had the wonderful opportunity to translate a collective vision and facilitate the community painting phase.
