Commissioned through SaludArte—a collaboration between the Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona and the Pima County Health Department—this temporary installation grew from a series of workshops with fifteen Green Valley residents.
Through guided conversations and exercises, participants reflected on their experiences in the years following 2020 and explored what healing, adjustment, and resilience looked like in their own lives. The imagery in the mural emerged directly from those discussions, with each element contributed by members of the group.
The final composition was painted by the Green Valley community during a two-day public event, transforming the mural into a shared expression of recovery and collective care. Our role in the project was to translate the community’s ideas into a unified visual language and facilitate the collaborative painting process.
