This large-scale mural was created for the Alachua County Sports & Events Center in Gainesville, Florida. Home to the state’s only 200-meter indoor track, the venue is named after legendary track and field coach Jimmy Carnes.
The composition brings together several athletes connected to the University of Florida and the broader legacy of sport in the region. Coach Jimmy Carnes appears on the left, with Florida Gators all-time rebounds leader Neil Walk on the upper right. Volleyball Olympian and University of Florida Hall of Famer Aury Cruz stands at the center, while middle-distance runner and three-time Olympian Hazel Clark appears on the lower left.
The phrase “Let the Legend Live On” anchors the piece, celebrating the athletes and mentors whose achievements continue to inspire future generations.
